DJ / Producers Playground
In 2013 DJ Sub Focus (Nick Douwma) toured his debut LP ‘Tourus’ to worldwide audiences from Australia to USA, UK thru Europe.
This required a robust DJ orientated design which worked with MIDI controllers/Ableton Live (the DAW of choice) an incorporating the resilience of syncd A/B switching playback computers and the ability to send control signals to a remote video setup.
Innovations
Additional fabrication in the flight case lid allowing dual laptop setup in a small space. Bespoke Max For Live patches were also created to allow remote control of Ableton by Nick, not offered by standard MIDI controllers.
The DJ was able to trigger video and light fixtures from an iPad syncd to Ableton Live in realtime offering a new reactive experience to the audience, not previously seen before.
A bespoke modular synth setup was built and integrated which clocked tightly to Ableton playback and allowed Nick to created both sequenced synths lines on the fly as well as wild time sync’d FX.
